Power Twitter Business Building Tactics Part 4
Part 4
In part 3 we talked about developing a targeted following on Twitter. Part of that is about selecting the correct individuals to follow. The second part of it is your actual communication (tweets).
I apply the 80/20 principle to my tweets. What that means is 80 percent of what I tweet is conversational tweets. This is where I actually build relationships, show interest in others thoughts and share my own ramblings, reply to others, start conversations, etc.
I am a relationship marketer by choice. I believe in building a relationship with my customers because I truly want to be as helpful as I can. I also am a strong believer in it helps to build loyalty and position you as the “preferred marketer.”
The remaining 20 percent of my tweets are niche rich content sharing with affiliate links. If I expect someone to consider buying from me, then I have to establish some rules around what I recommend and how I recommend it.
When I make a selection of a product to become an affiliate for, I want to know as much as I can about the product owner, his or her style and their of course the actual product.
I do a lot of research before I step out on the limb and make suggestions of folks to purchase something. Given the time it takes to do the research, setup a campaign, etc. I find my target product group is not necessarily a product launch that is going to close down in two or three days but instead a long standing quality product that I can build my exposure on.
I am not saying I never go after the just launched products that are limited releases. I do but for longer term in the role of an affiliate I go for the long standing quality products.
