    Power Twitter Business Building Tactics Part 2 

    Part 2

    The second and indispensable business tool is a URL (Unique Resource
    Locator) shortener. A URL shortener helps to mask the URL and shorten it.

    Power Twitter provides a way to shorten a link using bit.ly.  The shortcoming of using the feature inside of Twitter is it does not provide you a way to track your URLs.

    Tracking and URL management is essential. By tracking your shortened URL you have the ability to understand the effectiveness of the link.

    By effectiveness I am referencing how many times the link has been clicked on.

    Bit.ly provides click tracking, but even more, it provides details on click conversations and locations of those who clicked on your links.

    This helps you understand the behavior of your readers. As an entrepreneur understanding your readers and prospects is extremely important to increasing your conversions.

    Bity.ly does provide the tracking feature but not within Power Twitter.  Therefore, I am going to suggest you actually go out to the Bit.ly site to shorten your URLs.

    Bit.ly also works with various other applications such as Tweetdeck and Twitterfeed.

    One outstanding benefit of using Bit.ly is the search feature (http://bit.ly/app/search) provided in Bit.ly.

    For example, I entered “apps for twitter.”  Given this is the name of my domain, I have an interest in any tweets or posts containing that phrase. The response returned was interesting and very valuable.  It will in fact help me to provide targeted desired content.

    4 Part Power Twitter Business Building Tactics 

    Part 1:

    This is the year to twitterize which is the same as accessorizing in my mind.  The exception being that we are talking about gathering your arsenal of tools to build a business on the Internet using Twitter instead which shoes go with that dress.

    Think I am crazy?  Think not!

    Take noteof the thousands of businesses flocking to join Twitter daily.  Twitter is now on TV, on the weather station, sports, news, infomercials and more uses cropping up each week.

    Twitter hit the audio wires as well.  It holds no boundary to the impact it has or towhere it will show up next.

    Though Twitter has been around for a while, the surge of media exposure and new members have increased exponentially in 2009.  Twitter was used in the last United States presidential campaign.

    With all the activity around Twitter it comes as no surprise to be labeled as an attractive money making opportunity.

    In order to use Twitter as a means of generating online sales, it is important  you have your tool chest armed with the right tools and you are armed with the right attitude.  After all, the microblogging platform Twitter is designed on was not meant for advertising or making money, but instead as a simple tool for communications.

    I think it is important we be respectful of why Twitter was created so we don’t ruin the site for those who are there for that purpose.

    Photo sharing should be a part of your arsenal.  For photo sharing you have several choices.  One that comes to mind is Twitpic .  It is very easy to start and use this application.  The second option just became available on Twitter itsself.

    Select “choose file.”  By selecting “choose file” the following screen appears:

    On this screen you would make your photo selection.

    Photos are just one aspect of Twitter business building you need to be aware of.  We will continue in Part 2.
